  Thread:   2003 Developments from Jane

Author: The Administrator

Hi All,

Marks previous posting titled "2003 Plans" outlined some of the changes which were in the pipe line for 2003. The development site went live on Tuesday August 19th 2003.

The ccd.net production team would love to know your thoughts about these changes.

Some of the changes on the site include, new visuals, accessible design, improved forum design and a dynamic news page which will give a snapshot of the most recent news items, ccd projects and active forums on the site. Users can search the site which will scan the contents of each page rather than metadata only.

As Carmen said in a posting last year - "Everyone must join in or it wont work"

Look forward to your feedback.

Thanks
Jane

Ahh that's better!

the forums layout is much clearer...and the pages seem to load faster too.

Hi Jane

I think the fora have improved. I would still like to be able to see from the index page if there are 'new' messages rather than having to go in to each forum to find out (and usually be disappointed).

I am also thinking that what the site lacks is a friendly, relaxed space for more casual interaction. The site should be about a bit of contact and networking for its own sake - not just for critical argument.

Maybe a chatroom...maybe a bulletin board where people can just say 'hi I'm Fitzy, I'm from South Melbourne, this is what I do'... rather than having to commit to an opinion on cultural planning or something similarly dry before you participate.

just a thought... ~;)

Hi Fitzy,

i think that is a great idea. CCDNSW have put something like that on their website - they are calling it their 'network''section. Not many people are using it yet, but it is a very attractive and friendly way of participating.

What it lacks is a means of interacting, which ccd.net offers through these fora. It would be great if one or other site actually had both!!!!

the other thing is that every time I come back to a forum I end up reading the same the messages as I don't remember what I've read before and the forum pages don't have a feature of showing 'read or unread' etc that is retained for you each visit.

  Thread:   NO CODE

I just discovered that html code doesn't work in these posts. that is a shame - It is often useful to post links to other sites, files etc when posting a forum message.

Can this feature be added?

I agree Carmen. I just posted a link expecting it to work! Seems reasonable enough.

Had a look at the CCDNSW site.
v. noice.

I particularly liked the Resources section.
you know, its actually more like what I was expecting when I first went to the resources section here on ccd.net

(by the way, why does everyone say "ccdDOTnet". sounds stupid. Surely the 'dot' is silent?
