Through a range of programs, including performing arts touring, visual arts touring, gallery spaces, community cultural development funding, and the management of four major regional arts centres, Country Arts SA increases access and participation in the arts for all South Australians.

Country Arts SA is a South Australian Government Statutory Authority and operates under the provisions of the South Australian Country Arts Trust Act 1992. Responsibility for Country Arts SA is within the portfolio of the Minister for the Arts and a ministerially appointed Board of Trustees. Country Arts SA has a decentralised organisational structure with over 70% of its staff living and working across country South Australia.

To ensure that arts decisions are made locally, Country Arts SA operates four country divisions (Central, Western, South East, and Riverland / Mallee). Each of these divisions has its own Country Arts Board whose principal responsibility is to oversee the achievement of local arts priorities.

Country Arts SA delivers arts programs through:
- managing and operating performing arts centres, at Whyalla, Port Pirie, Renmark, and Mount Gambier
- developing performing arts programs for the Centres and for touring to other regional towns
- developing and managing visual arts touring programs and visual arts display spaces
- managing a number of arts development and community artist funding programs
- advocating for the continuing development of the arts in country South Australia
- providing arts information and an advisory service to country South Australians.

We're an independent non-profit group that links communities, artists and local government councils across Victoria. We advocate a stronger role for participatory arts and cultural expression to build a healthier, more engaged and sustainable society. We're committed to the principles of community cultural development and affirmative action for marginalised communities. We aim to elevate and embed the appreciation of culture and community-based arts into public life at the local level. To this end, we represent the needs and views of the community cultural development sector in country Victoria and metropolitan Melbourne to government.
