Project Description
|
 |
Creative Time was established in 1973, in a time when artists around the United States were establishing alternative arts programs as a response to the limitations of more traditional exhibition and performance venues. Rapidly, the organisation became a leader in presenting new works by artists in unusual public spaces. Creative Time's intention is to cultivate large and diverse public audiences, to educate the public on the ‘importance of cultural activities' and to introduce new audiences to contemporary art practices. In the last 29 years Creative Time have presented new works in the streets, in the subway, on beaches, on bridges, in cyberspace using an assortment of vehicles and platforms to present works, including: cars, billboards, video screens, shopfronts, wireless media, on milk cartons and paper cups.
